We are building an innovative organisation connected to our values and focused on our customers.
Our people strategy
A diverse and inclusive culture is essential to the long-term success of Aviva and enabling us to respond to our diverse customer and wider stakeholder needs
hg0080.com皇冠Aviva is made up of 31,700 people around the world and in the UK, our home market, we employ more than 15,000 people.
hg0080.com皇冠Our global people strategy sets out how we will accelerate our performance from the inside out. We will:
- Focus on our customers by connecting the day-to-day activities of our people with our purpose
- Give our people the freedom to act in line with our values
- Make leadership a way of life so all our people contribute to delivering our strategy and think independently. We want leaders who are ambitious and achieve results in everything they do
- Create an inclusive and diverse environment so that everyone can be themselves
- Actively invest in the skills, mind-sets and future capabilities we need to win in a digital age.
We recognise that we are on a journey to accelerate Aviva’s transformation into a company that puts the customers at the centre of everything we do and our focus will be on ensuring our people can deliver in an innovative and simple way.
Find out more about the progress we made in 2018 to develop an inclusive workforce which is fit for the future.
hg0080.com皇冠To disrupt insurance, we must transform our culture. With the right culture, Aviva will be agile, innovative and visionary. We will delight and serve our customers brilliantly.
We are focusing on creating a culture which ensures that we are an inclusive workforce who put our customers first.
Our values - Care more, Never rest, Kill complexity and Create legacy - are deliberately edgy, thought-provoking and challenging. We strive to live them every day. They guide everything we do and the decisions we take.
You can find out more about our culture in the All about us section.
hg0080.com皇冠We’re thinking differently. We’re becoming more inclusive and diverse all the time.
We're improving gender balance through targeted female development programmes, diverse shortlists and a leadership team committed to change.
By the end of 2018, we reached 31% female leaders* across all markets, beating our 2020 target of achieving 30% female leaders.
In the UK, we’ve published our 2018 gender pay gap report. It sets out the actions we’re taking to create an inclusive culture and make the positive progress we need to see.
hg0080.com皇冠Our drive towards an inclusive culture comes through employee communities which were launched across our markets in 2018. Over 5,000 employees have joined our keptgame.communities which cover: race and religion, gender, sexuality, caring responsibilities, age, and mental and physical health.
hg0080.com皇冠Talented people doing great work for our customers is central to the success of Aviva.
Diversity is simply a reflection of society in whichever markets you operate in. Inclusion is how you choose to harness diverse perspectives to produce the best results.

Doing the right thing for our people
Being a Living Wage Employer
We want our people to be able to enjoy a decent standard of living – that’s why we’re proud to be a real Living Wage Employer in the UK. And that includes contractors and suppliers who work on our sites too. People like Lynne Hanner and her team, who do a great job helping to keep our offices in Norwich clean and safe.
hg0080.com皇冠In this video Lynne talks to some of our people about the huge difference the Living Wage has made to them and their families.
